BLACK BEAUTY® products are and industry pioneer in the processing of mineral products for environmentally beneficial uses by minimizing the environmental impact and capturing value from coal combustion by-products since the 1930s. BLACK BEAUTY® provides a solution to site waste removal, material handling, and cost reduction by engineering “green” uses for the abrasives and roofing marketplaces, both of which are sold under the well-known BLACK BEAUTY® brand name. Our coal aggregate is also used for commercial structural fill, waste water filtration media, and anti-skid/asphalt additive.
We have expanded our product lines and environmental commitment to include packaging post-consumer BLACK BEAUTY® Glass into a variety of markets including the surface preparation industry as a blasting abrasive.
Common Uses For Black Beauty® Abrasives
BLACK BEAUTY® Abrasives are utilized in a wide range of industrial and commercial applications. They are frequently used for the removal of mineral build up or coatings such as Limescale deposits (often referred to simply as “scale”), rust, and paint. BLACK BEAUTY® Abrasives are used to remove coatings on structural steel and concrete. It is often used as an abrasive media to remove coatings off structural steel bridges, ships, water tanks, off-shore drilling rigs, oil field equipment, pipelines, marine equipment, rail cars and steel machinery.

Black Beauty® Abrasives
BLACK BEAUTY® coal slag is a tough, fast-cutting, and economical abrasive with less than 1% free silica. It’s unique angular shape and hardness quickly cut away the toughest coatings for paint, scale, and dust removal. Also available with Blastox® by special order.

Black Beauty® Glass Abrasives
BLACK BEAUTY® GLASS abrasives are high quality, chemically inert, environmentally friendly and contain less than 1% free silica. As a blasting media, recycled crushed glass is a highly efficient material for many applications. Our products are used by customers when removing surface coatings, such as rust, paint and scale from a variety of substrates, especially stainless steel, aluminum, concrete, bricks and wood.

Black Beauty® for Anti-Skid / Asphalt Additive
BLACK BEAUTY® coal slag meets sealcoat industry specifications and standards for use in mixing aggregate with coal tar emulsions, crack fillers, and epoxies for sealcoat jobs.

Black Beauty® with Blastox
WHAT IS BLASTOX®?
Blastox® is a granular chemical additive that is pre-blended with BLACK BEAUTY® to render lead waste non-hazardous under the TCLP test. The spent residue is non-hazardous and can be disposed of in a local Subtitle D landfill. BLACK BEAUTY with Blastox is available through Flat Rock Bagging by special order.
